Team Leader Work Health and Safety

About the role

The Team Leader Work Health & Safety will lead the City's Health & Safety function by driving towards best‑practice approaches, ensuring legislative compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across diverse City operations. The role strengthens safe systems of work, supports effective incident and injury management, and promotes meaningful WHS consultation to embed safety as a shared and practiced responsibility.

You'll oversee the development and continuous improvement of the City's Safety Management System, while guiding injury management and Workers Compensation through our Recover at Work framework. The position also leads the design and delivery of proactive health, wellbeing, and monitoring initiatives that help our workforce stay safe, supported, and thriving.

About you

Your qualifications in Health & Safety, Occupational Health or a related discipline will be supported by strong experience developing and administering safety management systems. Success in this role requires someone who has led teams within large, complex organisations and can confidently guide others through contemporary safety practices and expectations.

You will possess well‑honed engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external partners. You'll be adept at educating and supporting employees and leaders to strengthen safety culture, while balancing competing priorities and delivering positive, customer‑focused outcomes.
